I think it would be a great time to consider starting up another campaign. Maybe we could lay out all the plans for it and start it up in December-January?
A lot of the new players have expressed interest in playing a campaign, and I think they are a hoot.

Reading my last post it maybe came out wrong. The campaigns are hoots not the new players.

There are actually a couple of different ways to approach a campaign game. One is to essentially play a mission a month for the duration of the war. This way focuses on pilot progression, for example, a pilot starting at the end of 1916 would progress through the various planes for his side until the end of the war. Another (which I prefer) is to take a small segment of time (week, month) and just run games with points defined to see who wins. This is what I have drawn up. Anyone interested?

I think the shorter campaigns about 5-6 missions scored are the ones I was thinking of. Those are a blast. As long as we make sure the sides are fairly even and we can have mostly the same players show up each month for it.

But yes, let's talk about what you have Rick. Sounds great!

I'm sort of interested, but the mind can only absorbe what the butt can indure.
For all you people who don't know what that means, it means that I dont want to be sitting down and concentrating on one thing for 5+ hours.

I may be over zealous but... I kind of want to do a war long campaign.

Wesley, typically in the past we have done mini-campaigns over several gaming days. The last one we did was about 2 years ago, and we played I think a 5 game campaign over about a 4-5 month period, where each gaming day, one of our missions during the day would be the campaign game. After each campaign game we'd update the current score, and it was a great time. Even though I lost one of my favorite pilots of all time in that campaign Lukas Haas, right after he became an ace too.

My anticipation would be the campaign would run over 7 gaming days, 2 campaign games per game day. So if we have 4 games a day, 2 would be campaign and 2 would be random. We ran a version of this with the HP gang and it worked out really well.
The basic idea behind a campaign game is to give a person a chance to develop a pilot to Ace level. I think we can all agree with that.

As long as we make sure the sides are fairly even and we can have mostly the same players show up each month for it. I'm anxious to run a new campaign and I'm all for it, but we'd all better understand that you're suggestion above will never happen. Too much changes in people's lives over the course of a year. And even if it does, we'd still better make up our minds in advance that no matter what you do, one side is going to lose and they will gripe about the unfair teams, the lopsided planes, the rotten scenario, the stupid strategy, the sun is too bright, the moon is too dim, and whatever McDonalds is serving for breakfast this week tastes funny. That's happened in almost every campaign we've ever had to one extent or another. If you accept that in advance they can be a real hoot, but just be aware. By game 5 or 6 it will essentially be over. By game 3 or 4 the losers will be howling.
