You know, you should really start a separate thread for the Pilot's List. More folks would see it that way.

Gary Blemings here,
for me the indy squadron does define the DP industry. Over the years i have been accessing this site, this is the only reliable place for find information. Keep up the good work! life is a busy thing, and i think it is a natural progression for it to grow and shrink in interest (ie: people), but one thing i have counted on, it has always been here, as a site for information, on what is going on....i would be up for a vdp game, like some, that is the only way i will get to play...the problem i see with vassal, was the 'setup' time to get everything going, often it would take us an hour or so, to get setup, and have enough people, then, after playing an hour, people would have to log off, for work the next day (talking about the night games)...thanks everyone! garyb

Thanks for the encouraging words, Gary! Really nice to hear something positive. This has been a really difficult year with travel (I'm writing this from Sulphur Springs TX!) but next year I hope my schedule will be lighter and we can have a bit more DP involvement. In the meantime, I'll preach my same old mantra... survival! Just survive somehow. Four issues, ten or twenty. Just get something out. Game six times or fifteen. Just game. Hold RBF and Armistice Day, get a few issues out and wait for the pendulum to swing back our way.

I'll say what I've said all along, our biggest problem wasn't lack of players or interest, it was just a matter of having games SET on the calender in advance so everyone knew when the next gaming day was and could adjust their schedules accordingly. Think about this, we're still talking about the supposed "demise" of the Indy Squadron after we just had an official gaming day with 8 players who showed up. And we were missing one of our most active players in Rick Lacy, and also missing another player (Ian) who said he'd be able to come and is really interested in the game as well. While some of our newest players are fairly young, that's completely irrelevant. I can remember when we were playing at Stephen's house next door to me back in the mid to late 90's and a great gaming night was if 5-6 players showed up. We could almost always guarantee we'd have 4 and get in official missions because Alice could play if needed. Still, those days are largely in the rearview mirror and yet we still talk about the "Glory days". I think we're still in the glory days and that Indy Squadron is strong as ever. We went through our usual summer lull and now we're back and rolling strong. And as long as we have those dates scheduled ahead of time and get the word out that we're playing, when, and where, we'll do great!

Totally agree, and if you dont think that Me, Wayne, Mike , Ian, and possibly Garrett and Ethan won't keep this squadron going you are very, very wrong.
