I know the Morgans are out of town right now, but I think they will be back later this week. August 8th would be ok with me if it's ok with everyone else! Let's do it!

Since we aren't playing near as much we might as well have a longer gaming day would be my suggestion.

You could count Wayne and I in for August 8th. If need be I can contact the Morgans and see if they will be back in town. I know that Ian Cunningham has been asking for months when the next gaming day is. (He's a new player who's just picked up the game).

Since GenCon is in town this month (and we have never had Aug gaming since it started here), I'd highly urge everyone to come to the warmup gaming on the 12th and if at all possible to come to GenCon itself to play DP. I don't plan on playing the 8th personally.

I was responding to Stephen's earlier post when he had asked if Aug 8th was ok for everyone. Apparently those of us not going to Gen Con will need to hang tight til Sept.

You should really come out to warm up gaming and the Con. I might be able to swing a pass for you if we work it out in advance.

Bump I have 3 new, young, excited players who really want to play, and we have no date set on the calender. I recall reading the issue before last that we had a date scheduled in September but there has been nothing added, and I can't find that archive. I guess I need to call and quit typing it here.

If we could get back to some semblance of normalcy in the scheduling of days, I know we could see some real growth among our young gamers here in Indy. These boys really loved playing the game at Michael's birthday party (and so did us dads). I'm not giving up on our Indy Squadron, but I need some help. Can I help in some way? Like maybe putting the scheduled dates on the calender and keeping everyone appraised as to where we are going to play?

We taught the game to 5 new players just a few months back, and everyone of them enjoyed it immensely.

We taught the game to 5 new players just a few months back, and everyone of them enjoyed it immensely. Honestly, if you have that number of players wanting to play, you guys ARE the IndySquadron now by default. No reason you can't play whenever and whereever you want. I'd ask you post the game days 2 weeks in advance so that if those of us with loads of time commitments can join you we'd know about it. But just due to the nature of working and such in today's society trying to get all of us together on any given day is problematic. Take the flag and fly it high! The rest of us will join in when/where we can.

Ok Stephen and I have talked through his schedule and set dates for Indy Squadron gaming through the end of the year. Our next official gaming day is NEXT Saturday the 12th at 5 PM at Stephen's house. Also the calender is updated all the way through the end of the year.

Everyone take a deep breath.
Thanks to Kevin's and Rick's prodding, we now have the entire Indy schedule posted for the remainder of 2009 thru the New Year's Day DP Bash 2010. That's about as normal as it gets. This is a Good Thing.
And now for some non-hysterical perspective based on actual facts...
Indy usually does not game in June/July, and we do not schedule anything for August in lieu of Gen Con. Our spring schedule ends in May and our fall schedule begins in September. This has been going on since Gen Con got here seven years ago and it is not new.
Recent history - we have gamed in 3 of the last nine months. Normally we would have gamed in 6 of the last nine months. That is a 50% reduction in gaming.
Recent publication history for ISD - over the last five years, we have averaged 10 issues through August of each year. In 2009, we have five issues in that same time span - 50% of the average publication run over the last five years.
So the Indy Squadron is running at 50% capacity. This is not good and we all wish it were better. However, we are indeed gaming and publishing at 50% capacity. We have not ceased to exist. The sky is not falling.
News flash - we are having a slow year. We have had them in the past. We will have more of them in the future.
Again, this is largely my fault and I apologize. However, I believe that some common sense, a Prozac and a reality check will show that the reports of our demise are premature.
