I don't see anywhere yet that we have a gaming thread for 2009.....it is already halfway through the year, but I figure maybe it will help everyone (especially our new players if we have an official thread for it again). If it's already here and I'm missing it, I apologize.
In any case, some interesting news: Michael Morgan's winning the RBF has ignited a lot of interest in some of his friends, so the next-Gen of Dawn Patrol players is growing rapidly. We have 2 more young men who have expressed a lot of interest in picking the game up (Matthew and Ian). I'd like to see if we can settle on a date/place for June gaming and get it on the calender so we all know ahead of time what's happening?

It sounds as if we may be out for offical gaming in June? Stephen sent me an email and said he would be out. How about July? Let's take a shot at getting a date together for July. Incidentally, Wayne, myself, and the Morgans will be having the opportunity to teach the game to several new players this Friday evening at a Dawn Patrol birthday bash for Michael at Michael's house. Should be a lot of fun! I haven't been invited to a birthday party with a bunch of teenagers in....well.....longer than I care to admit.

We could still play in June, no rule says Stephen has to be there. Just post the location/time and see if we have 4 players.

Go ahead and play if you can get 4. That's why I sent that email out. But I'd like to be in on July gaming. I know the weekend of the 11th is out, but the week after that might work. I'll be back to check here every 3-5 days, so just post it here if that works for everyone.
Also, Kevin, how did last Friday go with the new kids?

The first game had 3 130 Camels against a Fokker Dr. I, an Phlaz DIIIa. and an Alb. The Camels were flown by Me, Mr. Richeson and my friend Chris. The Dr. I was flown by Wayne, the Phlaz by my bro. and the Alb. by Ian. The Camels won. (obviously) Wayne and Wes fled after the sixth round. My pilot Lt. Snoopy got his first kill by following Wayne into the clouds and making a confirming save of 10%. The Alb had it's left wing blown off by Chris's pilot, Topher McWiggles. Deja Vu of me on my first day, Ian made his save of 5% to survive the crash!!!!! (We were over the German lines so no capture save) We played one more game on Friday and another one this morning.(I'll get the details later). Also my mom took some pics.(One is of Me and Wayne drinking chocolate milk from our RBF Cups.)

Here's the pics. Left to right Chris, Mr. Richeson, Me, Ian, Wayne and Wesley. Ian in his first game, along with wing mates Wayne and Wes. Chris's first game sitting next to his wing mate Mr. Richeson. Me in the heat of battle. RBF XIX and XX winners. Me and Wayne drinking chocolate milk from RBF Goblets. Cheers!

I think you got it a little mixed up mike. my Fokker lost the LW in the 2nd game. My Alb dove into the clouds and got away in game #1. In game 3 my Spad did the best of all, 1M-1K.

Oh, okay I'm sorry. No need to be sorry, it was just a little thing. The funny thing is that I did much better with a Spad VII than with a Fokker D,VI.

As has already been reported, the gaming at the Morgan's house for Michael's Dawn Patrol birthday bash was a rousing success. The games took quite a bit longer than usual as we had several new players we were teaching the game. Chris, Ian, and Mr. Morgan all got in their first Dawn Patrol games ever. Each did quite well for their first times playing the game. All in all, I'd say that the Indy Squadron is about to undergo a MAJOR revival! Ian is already hooked and in fact posting here. This is great news for us local squadron members who have been a bit frustrated by lack of attendance for our regular gaming days.
I'd like to suggest we hold a game or two at Gamerz if we can. That way one or two people don't have to feel the burden of hosting every time out. I would have everyone at my house if I could fit them all comfortably. Mr. Morgan is open to hosting a game at his house as well. Stephen and I did initially discuss Gamerz still being an option as a location at least every once in awhile. In any case, wherever we play, I'd say let's agree on a date and get a game together for June and July, and go back to the old days of having our gaming days on the calender ahead of time for new players to know when we are playing. But I view new players coming in and being excited about DP a great thing!

You may just as well wait for GenCon Warmup gaming. George has it set up for Wed starting at 1pm, and (I think) it's no charge to play.
