This thread is for anyone wishing to announce a game date, or seeking other players to arrange one.
Aside from posting here, you can also post a message directly on Vassal by loading up the VDP module, connecting to the server, and clicking on 'Post Message'. You can check for messages that other players have posted by clicking on 'Check Messages'.
For anyone wanting to play this weekend, I plan to be online Sunday morning. My primary reason is to test out the latest version of the module, but if enough people show up, I would be up for the game. Also, if any newbies show up, I will guarantee that I will take the time to run through a sample game (using the existing module that you can currently download off the Vassal site).
If anyone wants to help me with testing my latest version of the module, please contact me and I will send you a copy. I will log on at 11am CST to test the new module, and will be available at 11:30 CST for a real or trial game.

11:30 Central time this Sunday works pretty well for me. Can you send me your revised module? I'd love to see all the planes.

Kirk, All Vassal modules are actually zip files. All you should need to do is download Dawnpatrolv11.mod and remember where it is saved. Then when you launch vassal, select play module and then point it to DawnPatrolv11.mod and it will load. In the Dawn patrol controls window it should report itself as v1.1. If it is not then you still have the old version. You may want to delete the DawnPatrol.mod (which is ver 1.0) before you download the new one so that you don't get them confused. Let me know if your still having issues and maybe we can hook up on line and see what you may be doing wrong. -Rex

Rex - I got it figured out. I just downloaded the module from the VASSAL website. Everything works great now. Thanks.

All - this Thursday my wife is going to one of those partys where she spends money on things like baskets and bags. Oye! After I get the kids to bed, it would be a great night to fire up VDP and play with anyone that is available. Even if only one of you can be online, it would be good for me to get more acquainted with playing using Vassal. I should be able to start by 8:30pm cst (thurs April 26).

I should be available. Prior to joining in I recommend you download version 1.1 of the VASSAL DP module from over at the VASSAL website.
BTW, where "Near Chicago" are you located? I'm originally from Buffalo Grove (about a half hour NW of Chitown) and get up there a couple times a year. Maybe we could get together for a game when I'm visiting.

I will make sure everything is loaded up prior to joining. I will probably be asking some newbie questions so please bear with me. Kirk, I live in Bartlett which of course is not too far from Buffalo Grove. Let me know in advance of your visit and I will try and schedule a match with the other guys I have introduced to the game.

No problem. I was asking lots of newbie questions at the game yesterday. Although I've owned DP for a number of years I've never really had the opportunity to play it much. These online games are my first real chance to see how the game is really played. To know my level of experience, all one needs do is look at my pilot roster. I have about a half dozen guys that are 1/0's, a single 1/1, and a couple guys that have been victories for other players. I for one am really excited VDP might be taking off. I think it could be a lot of fun for a lot of people. My next move will probably be to post messages over at The Aerodrome and at Consimworld to try and gather participants.
Next time I visit home I'll let you know ahead of time so maybe we can get together for a game.

i would consider my self a newbie, as well. i have played a few face to face games, mostly solo, etc...and a few vassal games.
it appears then if we do get a game going on thursday, it will be a newbie game!
I am assuming that initially the 7th edition rules/charts/etc are the rules that we will be playing with...
i have everything setup, vassal is downloaded, and tested (it works), teamspeak i will load on tommorrow...
so all set...

I should be able to make this Thursday night around 8 CST. I am a 'veteran' of sorts, but promise to only bring non-experienced pilots to the table (unless my side is badly outclassed & outnumbered ) and am happy to help the newer players to get acclimated. In fact, please feel free to email me anytime with game questions of any sort, I am always happy to help out!

I should be able to start by 8:30pm cst (thurs April 26). I will be there too. I have TS, so if you get the server info out we can test drive the voice communication too. I have been trying to push this for anyone who is serious about VDP. Hopefully as time goes on, people will pick up head sets and we will get more people set up. -Rex

If you just point teamspeak to roguegroup.no-ip.com with the default port, then it should work. I will post exact intructions tonight once I create the channel, etc.
