He is currently working on an offical 8th edition release of the game, at which time there will FINALLY be one set of rules. I don't think there will ever be one set of rules. The 8th edition may help Madisonize the world, but people will always have house rules and things that they prefer. Maybe that's not all bad.

You're right Stephen. Every group will always have their own preferences and that's not a problem. HOWEVER, we need to have one clear base set, so that everyone is starting at the same place. Then each group can make a clear list of their variations and, whether hard copy or soft, they can give that to visitors and we can all play nicely together.

Just a reminder to everyone that I'm currently pulling together Plane Pack 2. It's coming together much slower than expected - at the current rate, and looking at my schedule, it should come together mid-June.
The reason I mention this is that if there are any features or changes that anyone wishes to request, now is the time to do so. The next update probably won't happen until we pull some new maps together. What is already being included in this pack are: - loads and loads of new planes, even new balloons and (if I can get it to work) a 600' long Zeppelin. - replacement of current glide images with a "G" on the counter, in the same way that tailing is marked with a "T" (so now we can see the facing of gliding planes) - fixing mistake in last Plane Pack that saw many Central Power planes given Allied spin image. - inspired by last night's bombing mission, bomb release and explosion markers. - possibly a new map

and we can all play nicely together. Maybe the tooth fairy will ride in on her unicorn and play with us, too. ;D ;D ;D

The Current map is 37x23 squares.
I have been experimenting with a Large Map 143X143 squares that does not have any terrain just a solid background. I would prefer a map with terrain features, so if anyone has any art skills, the size of the large map is 10010x10010 pixels. (each Square is 70 Pixels wide).
I'm planning on including the large map in the next release. Version 1.2 will come out as soon as Kevan finishes his new counters. In the mean time let me know if you would be able to draw the terrain for the new map. I would like to limit the color pallet so that we can control the memory usage of the new map so that we don't out pace some of the people with older systems. if you have experience with graphics programs you might be able to figure that out.

I'm thinking 32 colors would be good.. if that doesn't give you enough then maybe 128. I'm thinking you should be able to edit the Pallet to only include the colors your using. And hopefully that will keep the file size down.
You do not have to include the grid. But it would be nice if the roads and things lined up with the grid. I can send you a blank grid to work from. If you do include a grid then I will have to massage the image to get the vassal grid to line up. No big deal.
