In light of the nice writeup on all the DP groups in the latest ISD, does anyone think it would be fun to form a "Cyber Jasta"? For those of us who will probably never belong to a face-to-face DP group, this would be our way of belonging to some sort of squadron. Then we could be listed right along side the other squadrons of the past as we advance DP into the 21st century.

What I can do is put together a Word document that contains contact info for everyone that wants to be a member, upcoming game dates, updates on the campaign, game reports, "house" rules, etc. Then I can send it out to everyone maybe every two weeks or so. My ultimate goal would be to have the group (and VDP in general) recognized as an "official" way to play DP such that whenever the 8th edition comes out there is information contained in the box that will point potential players to us.

Is there anyone else that might be interested in such a thing? I've started working on a newsletter but if only Kevan, Stephen, and I are interested it might not be worth doing.

If there isn't much immediate interest, I'd recommend waiting until the fall. Many regular players haven't been around much, and I've exchanged emails with at least three players who intend to try out VDP in the fall.

If anyone who's interested could just e-mail me I'll be able to send out a draft copy of a newsletter for everyones perusal. I have something already worked up, I just lack the e-mail addresses for some people so I can send it out.

Sorry, I'm not that computer literate. I don't know anything about putting up websites. I am interested, and this is where I can help. I am an application developer (database, web, and inbetween) by trade and I already own a relevant domain name and can give all of you author privileges to add content. Adding content would be as easy as using these forms for a forum post. The initial website I had planned just as a WW1 aviation enthusiast website. But, this is a much better use for it. Check out the shell of the website at ww1aircombat.com If you guys want to get started just let me know and I can have it ready in a few days. I can add a tag line - "Home of the VDP CyberJasta" or something to that effect. I can then give you guys the lowdown on how to contribute to the website. Note: The News Items on the website are just stock samples from Joomla. We can replace them with Game Night write-ups, etc. Let me know, Dan

That sounds like a great idea. A true "cyber" Jasta should have a presence on the 'net. I'll send you what I've whipped together so far and maybe it can be used as a starting point.

All - I am beginning work on the website. I think it would be great to make this VDP site (indysquadron) the home of all rules, instructions, and static content about VDP. The new website can be strictly focused on the jasta group and it's gaming activity (including game writeups, optional player profiles, pilots lists?) Everything we post can be read by RSS news readers so if you use something like my.yahoo.com - you can read the info without even visiting the website everyday. Anyway, the site is up and you guys can create user accounts. I will update the accounts with editing privileges as they are requested. Kirk - I already created an account for you - check your email box for info. url - ww1aircombat.comDan

The site is already looking good. I'll link to it in the next update, and also send you some Q's for an interview about the new site so we can feature it in an upcoming issue of ISD.

Thanks Stephen, and just to let everyone know - I was able to purchase cyberjasta.com and I am going to forward that url to ww1aircombat.com for now. Eventually, cyberjasta.com may be the main title and url.
