I lost one of my Fokker aces, Haup. Erwin Heller a couple weeks ago. He is one of my original pilots from 34 years ago. He was behind British lines with 2 wingmen fighting 4 Snipes. He killed the pilot of one Snipe for his 52nd kill. The next turn , a bullet ricocheted off his left gun butt and hit him above his left eye, shattering his goggles. He stayed awake and dove from 11,000ft to his side and landed in a rough field. He did not pass his incapacitation roll. 85 missions and 52 kills is a good run in anyone's book. 8 wounds, 2 serious. His last mission was in October 1918 so it's kind of fitting he ended there.

Man, I can't believe you're still flying a pilot from your original roster. I'd be scared to death to take them up. I guess I do, though... but that's spooky.

I still have a few active pilots from my first roster actually. The pucker factor is high when they are in the air.
