Speaking of Society events, every other year the winner of the Indy Squadron title was promised a spot in the Master's tournament. I am the winner from this past year, and I've received no info about the event. Is there anyone that can tell me about it? All I know for sure is I was told by Stephen that it was going to be held at Gen Con this year. Is that correct? The Masters is Sunday at the MiniCon this year Kevin. Great. Nobody ever told me how the invitation system works or anything. I guess winning Indy's title no longer grants an automatic birth in Master's every other year, even though Mike Carr was the one who offered it. But I've received not one iota of information in regards to the event. I was specifically told that it was being held at Gen-Con this year. I am certain of that. But that was what Stephen thought I guess. Still with no info on it, how can we know if we were officially invited or not?

For the record I wasn't disputing that our attendance at society events over the years has not been very good. I was only suggesting that Stephen has very little to do with this, and that he's actually been a big promoter of Society events from my experience over the years.
I've played DP at Gen-Con a few times but most years I can't afford to go, and that's no excuse, the past few years have been very tough for me as most know. The events held out of town I never had the dependable transportation or the finances to go, or my kids and I would surely go. Or even for years before that I often had to work on Saturdays, which precluded taking a trip out of town. It was never excuses not to go, it was just the reality of life. WhosyerCon didn't work out either, but I wouldn't have a problem with going to the next one as long as I know about it ahead of time. This particular time I had no knowledge of it until the day of practically.

Ok, as I understand it, if you are a member of the FitS Society, you get a mailing about the spring mini-con, but I don't know if they mail to non members or not. That could explain why you didn't get anything if you aren't a member.

Most hardcore DP fans already knew about it so it's probably not a big deal, but people who didn't probably would not be able to prepare for an out of state trip in less than a week. We usually try to carry something here, too, and put it on the ISD calendar.
