I plan on being on around 8PM (Central) tonight. Are we going to play a campaign game? We haven't played one of those in a while.

I'll be on at 8 too.
I had considered wrapping up the campaign and figuring out the final score, but we could do a final game. I'd really like to sit down and re-work the campaign rules, drawing on our experiences so far, with the goal of proposing a new campaign for this fall or winter.

I should be there... If we do a campaign, i recommend the first person on go ahead & start setting it up... the game setup seems to take a good 1/2 hr to 45 min... if we could have that ready to go i think the games would go much smoother...

Thursday AAR - This is going to be a short AAR for reasons you'll see later on. Kevan and Andy were in their trusty SE's, trying to bring down me in my Alb and Rex in his LVG. The first roll of the night went against us Huns as the Tommies achieved surprise and got a free shot. After that things went from bad to worse for the defenders of the fatherland as the numbers rolls seemingly always had the two Allies moving last. The SE's ganged up on me and quickly dispatched me with a a flurry of tail shots that for some reason seemed to concentrate on my right wing. While I was being dealt with, Herman arrived on the scene in a second Albatros in an effort to try to restore order. As I was plummeting to my demise I heard a message from the heavens (my wife) indicating there were some things I needed to do. I departed the scene (in more ways than one) and left Herman and Rex to deal with the olive drab colored menace. Hopefully one of the other players can fill us in on what transpired after my departure.

Kirk you missed all the excitement! After your wing came off, I went after Herman & Kevan took after Rex. My lewis empty, I couldnt do enough damage to Herman to scare him away, and after 4 or 5 turns he finally got the iniative on me. 2 nickel crits later my plane was almost a glider...the next turn 3 more engine hits caused me to explode Kevan returned from a jammed gun and was able to avenge me by finishing off what I had started with Herman...the burning Alb was able to put the fire out and make it safely to the ground, where he was captured & POW'd for the remainder of the war. Rex was so flustered that he crashed on landing at home, but his crew survived the ordeal... I won the cut for Kirk so my pilot became a 9/5 ace for approximately 3 turns.

Should be noted that Rex managed to successfully call in artillery on all three targets, thanks to the noble sacrifice made by his escorts. So, while more Germans were shot down than Brits, they still came out ahead on points. This was the third artillery spotting mission of the campaign.

I think for selflessly drawing fire away from the two-seater, my intrepid deceased pilot should be awarded a medal of some sort. Does DP award medals posthumously? If so, Hans von Stiller should get one. BTW, I'm thinking of writing up some sort of obituary for him. I think it might be fun to "memorialize" our fallen combatants.

Not to disparage Herr von Stiller, but I'd think that Herman's rookie pilot taking down an SE before drawing off the final attacker and being downed by his guns might have been the most medal-worthy performance of the evening. Especially as the pilot he downed had just become an ace when he downed von Stiller.

That's true, but he also arrived a couple turns after Rex and I had already taken a sizeable amount of damage.
