I won't be able to make it this Thursday.
I should be here for the next two though. With September approaching, and the very real possibility of having more new players showing up, I propose that we wrap up the campaign at the end of the month, hopefully with at least another 2 games played. If the general concensus is that the campaign made VDP more interesting, perhaps we can get a new campaign going in the fall - the current one has given me some good ideas for improvements.

I think the campaign made things more interesting because it got us out of the rut of just rolling up western front fighter vs. fighter contests every week. One of the pluses of DP is the large number of aircraft and scenario possibilities and it would be nice to be able to take advantage of that. Is there a chart out there we can roll on to determine the mission type, in other words you roll a 1d6 and a 1-3 is fighter vs. fighter, 4-5 is 2-seater escorted by fighter, 6 is balloon busting, or something along those lines?

I most likely will not be able to make this week either, but its the last week of softball so I should be in now for the rest of the summer! Kirk, there is a complex mission chart that uses 2d10 with missions from 1-100, with all different fronts and scenarios. I dont have a soft copy, but I could probably put together a generic copy for VDP use if players are interested.

I know there are charts out there for FITS members that will supposedly be a part of the mythical 8th edition, but I was looking for something available to anyone and everyone that any newbie to DP can use to get more out of their game. It would be great if you or someone else could put something together that would use more of the 7th edition aircraft. Then we could post it at the Cyber Jasta site and use it for non-campaign Thursday night games.

Unfortunately I dont have a scanner, otherwise I would just scan & post the chart. I will try & get a simple chart put together before tomorrow night for generating mission types.

Actually, just between you and me (nobody else can read this right? ), I have a bunch of the stuff only intended for FITS members (additional aircraft, multi-engine rules, expanded scenario generation charts, etc.) that I've acquired over the years but I don't know what I can or can't distribute to the general public. This is another one of those times when I get annoyed because with interest in the game waning (all we need do is read Stephen's writeup on the demise of all the local DP squadrons) I wish any and all DP info could be had by anyone interested.

I too am unable to play this Thursday. I have a camping trip starting on Friday (ending Sunday) and need to get everything ready thursday night (and get a solid night of sleep). I will be around on Thursdays as usual after the trip.

I'll get on at around 8 and if three more show up we'll play a game. If not then I'll head to my hobby room and continue working on an Eduard Albatros.

Kirk - if you have photos of that Albatros or other models you have made - that would be a cool page for the cyberjasta site.

BTW, only two of us showed up for the Thursday night game last night. We did have fun experimenting with modifications to the VDP module. I really like the "one click" scenario generator. Just to let everyone know, the next time you use VASSAL it will update itself and Java. It took me a few minutes to get everything loaded last night but now I'm using VASSAL version 3.0.2.
