The VDP campaign finally came together, and just in time to celebrate the release of the v1.2 module. The larger map was the biggest hit of the night - in 25 turns, not a single plane had to wrap the board.
I don't have time for a full length report, but here it is in a nutshell. The allied side had a Brisfit escorted by two SE-5s, one arriving a turn late. The defenders were a pair of DIIIs. The mission was to spot for artillery firing on three random squares of the board. By the end of the game, Kirk's SE-5 had been forced down by an engine critical, but he miraculously escaped to friendly lines (the same pilot had an engine explode in his last mission) and Dan was not so lucky as his pilot got shot and his LW fell off on the same turn, at 2700'. Kills went to Dan (posthumously) and Andy. Rex ended up chasing my Brisfit back and forth across the sky for the rest of the game as it flew straight and level spotting for the artillery (which also prevented observer firing). Finally all the targets were hit (just as I picked up a tail crit and my LW was half gone) and headed for home. Final score: Allied 8 (6 mission points, 2 kill points), Germans 3 (1 kill, 1 chased away).
The Brisfit may be slightly overpowered, but will only play a major role in 1/6 of missions - might need to downgrade it.

My pilot has a propensity for rolling ones, both in his damage rolls to get all those E hits as well as his survival and evasion of capture rolls. A few more missions like the last couple and he'll be a German ace.
