I've had an evening meeting come up, so I doubt I will be available before 9 CST. I think there was some interest in mixing things up with a bombing mission, but that will be up to whoever sets things up.

I should be available - and can be at my computer as early as anyone wants to start. I wouldn't mind a different kind of mission as long as we can ensure it can be accomplished in a couple hours. Personally I've never flown anything but the standard fighter vs. fighter dogfight so I don't know if doing a different mission may take longer than a usual game. I'm guessing it would just depend on the number of aircraft involved, just like any other game.

Softball is cancelled so I will be online around 6PM CST. I will probably be doing chores & such, but as soon as I see we have a foursome I will sit down!!

If you guys don't mind waiting for a 6:30pm cst start time, then I can join you as well. Although, feel free to start rolling up sides and planes in my absence to get things moving. Either way, I will be on at 6:30 central and I am good for several games tonight as my wife and kids are out of town helping my sister-in-law. Looking forward to it!

Well that opening game last night sure was a quickie. If you blinked you missed it. My wingman and I in our SE5a's against a pair of Pfalz DIIIa's. On turn three Andy (Pfalz) and Michael (SE5a) each took hits, Michaels being a FF crit and then a subsequent 2 roll that said: "controls destroyed - aircraft shot down out of control". Andy had his pilot get hit who subsequently passed out and crashed. A turn later my SE5's engine was blown to smithereens but on the survival roll I rolled a 3 (1-5 out of 100 needed to live), meaning my intrepid pilot survived. Not only that, he rolled a 6 on the following roll (1d6) meaning he is able to live to fight another day. Michael came tantalyzingly close to surviving by rolling a 6 on the survival roll. In a game where victories are sometimes few and far between, this one saw three of the four planes bite the dust within a turn of each other.
I ought to show you guys my AAR's (after action reports) that I put together for each mission I fly. The survival of this pilot I attributed to the fact that although his engine exploded and was spewing smoke and water, that it didn't burn. He dove/plummeted toward earth and ended up in the trees.
I hated to have to leave last night, but preparations for my family to head to grandmas for the weekend were in full swing and I had to help out. What happened in the second game?

The second game saw newcomer Joe and I in a pair of SE 5a against Andy and Michael two Rolands, fighting at about 2000'. The allies were smoking on their initiative rolls, and Andy was gliding to the ground by turn 3 or thereabouts after Joe shot off his prop, subsequently crashing on landing. With Andy out of the picture, we teamed up on Michael. After a few turns of soaking up damage, his frustrated pilot turned for a head-on pass against both allied pilots that left him trailing smoke and with a light wound. I chased him down to the ground where he managed to land on a road. Luckily for the Jerries, they were over friendly territory.
The third (yes, you heard it right, three VDP games in one night) saw Rex and I flying SPAD VIIs against Michael and Andy in Alb IIIs. We agreed the game wouldn't last much more than an hour, but that was plenty of time for me to be sent gliding toward friendly territory after Andy put 6 of 9 hits (including 6 hits from a 400' head-on opportunity shot) into my engine. I wouldn't have made it home, except a 20mph wind was just enough to push me past the front.
So after so many VDP sessions with minimal casualties, we had 3 of 4 planes go down first game, 2 of 4 go down second game, and 1 of 4 go down third game last night.

That sounds like great fun. I wish I had been able to stick around and participate in the carnage - most likely from the target side.
Anybody want to try a game this weekend?

Sunday would probably work for me, day is pretty open. 11am CST has been a common start time for Sunday games, but might make it tough for Kirk to reach the wee hours. How does that sound?

Sunday looks open for me. Pick a time and I'll try to make it. The Wife is sick so we will be shut in this weekend most likely.
