Thursday night campaign game recap - Andy and Kirk were heading East late in the day in their SE-5's as the sun was setting in the west and encountered Dan and Kevan in their Albatros's heading in the opposite direction. Initial shots saw damage to three planes but on the second turn a lucky 1, 1 roll by Kirk on a pilot hit chance sent Kevan's pilot desperately diving toward earth with a critical wound. Dan stuck around to see what damage he could cause but struggled to get any hits. Kirk and Andy did little shooting from then on as their numbers rolls had them moving first and second much of the time. Eventually Dan escaped Andy and had a one on one with Kirk, but was then able to successfully escape and head back home. It was quite dark at this point and both Allied pilots struggled to find home and land in the darkness, but made successful landings. Kevan's pilot had his wings tear off but sympathetic civilians (we were over German territory) dragged his damaged body out of the wreckage and gave him the care that saved his life.

Hey guys, SO this campaign idea is a BLAST, but the setup is taking a lot of time. I think it would be great to have a prep the 'day of' , where all players that plan on playing that night say so by 24hrs b4 the game. That way we can 'roll up' the scenario prior to game time, with the goal to be rolling turns within 5 minutes of people logging in. I still think we should try and get games more streamlined so we can get 2-3 games played in a night instead of just one...

I think the key is rolling for "attacker" as soon as we have one allied and one german player in the room. We've had a two-seater and a "special circumstances" mission so far, but 50% of games should be straight-up dogfights.
If we were back to the April-May games, with their earlier starting times and bigger turnouts, I think we would be running two games each night, with rotating rosters of players. As it is, I'm happy to just have four players for a game. That's part of the reason I wanted to mix things up on Thursdays with a campaign, to provide some incentive for people to keep showing up.
By late fall or winter, I bet things will pick up again.

I agree. Summer is a down time. DST makes it even worse.

Plus for me personally, starting so late is a drawback. I can probably get in two games only if we start at 7 or 8 PM.
The only problem with rolling things up ahead of time is you can never be sure who will be there till the time comes. With my computer being broken, I couldn't have confirmed my attendance 24 hours ahead of time. I think the best solution would be to have the first two players that show up be on opposite sides and do the secret rolling for their respective sides. Then when the other players show up they're just assigned to a side and the game can begin relatively quickly.

BTW, can someone tell me what the date of last nights scenario was? I don't remember seeing it and would like it for my pilots AAR. Thanks.

By the way, the allies are now up 14-3 in campaign points. If anyone has been thinking about dropping in for a game, the Germans could use more pilots.

I'll try hard to help out the Germans for a few games when I return from France in mid July. Hope they're not hopelessly buried by then!

No softball for me this week, so I will be on around 6PM CST. I know that is early, but if we get one more then we can get the game(s) all set up & possibly play 1 or 2 more missions!!

I can be online early too, but I'm also allied (though I'm volunteering myself to be the first to switch to German in case it's needed for balancing).
If we can get a few more players for 6pm or shortly after, we could probably get in a regular dogfight before or after the campaign mission.

Are there gonna be enough players tonight? It seems pretty empty around here the last couple days.

Turns out I will not be able to show up early tonight. In fact, I doubt I'll be able to make it home until 8:30-9:00 CST.
