Vassal Dawn Patrol v1.1 is available for download from the Vassal web site. www.vassalengine.org/community/index.php?option=com_vassal_modules&task=display&page=Home&module_id=402Since George Long has not been reachable, I started a new folder for v1.1. Don't forget to add yourselves to the player list as well. New features in v1.1: - Lots of new aircraft! ( thanks to the outstanding work of Kevan)
- In the Clouds option that makes aircraft invisible to all other players.
- Fixed Option menu to display rotation commands.
- Changed 2d6 to report total of both dice
- Changed 2d10 to report 0-9 instead of 1-10
- Added Image capture tool to main map window. ( now you can take screen shots of the map.)
- Added "Aircraft Number" text label option to all aircraft counters. (Similar to Altitude indicator)
- Added square numbers to the Main map.
Kevan still has even more aircraft to add, so we are already working on the next update. If you have any suggestions for new features, please post them in the suggestion thread in this forum and we Will try and incorporate them in the next update. -Rex *NOTE: if you downloaded DawnPatrolv11_RC1.mod it is obsolete. Please download the new version.

Kevan just sent me the new plane pack. It's available for download at the vassal website. www.vassalengine.org/community/index.php?option=vassal_modules&task=downloadFile&file_id=2505Save it to the same directory as your Dawnpatrolv11.mod. Then double click the Plane pack file and it will update the module and create a new copy of the Mod file called V11withPlanePack1. Next time you open the module in vassal point at the new file and the extra planes will be included. -Rex

The plane pack contains fixes for about 10 bugs that I found in v1.1 (incorrect or missing plane images). It also contains approximately 30 new planes. I think we're up to about 25 Albatri now. Yeah, I know, more than we'll need in our wildest dreams, but the images were there, so why not use them. Also some nifty new planes like Uf*gs, Hansa-Brandenburgs, B.E. 12s, etc. Also beefed up the numbers of some of the more obscure planes.

I can't open the module right now, but does it have all the charts, aircraft data cards, etc. necessary to play the game? I ask because that might be a good way to address which rules to use. All we'd say is we use the charts and aircraft data that are in the VASSAL module. That way we'd be sure whoever is playing has all the info needed to play. Just a thought.

No, we don't distribute any game data like charts and rules because we don't want to infringe on the copyrights. The reason vassal works is because you must own a copy of the game to play. That way the copyright owners don't feel like they have to shut us down.

I understand what you're saying, but many of the other VASSAL games I have contain all the charts. As an example, the Air Force/Dauntless module has the aircraft data cards for every aircraft. In many cases the only thing not put on VASSAL are the rules themselves, which is of course the most important thing one needs to play. I just thought if all the charts and aircraft data cards were part of the module it might help to standardize how VDP is played.

Let me talk to MC about this and see what he says. He might not mind the 7th ed. charts being released.

I have the files saved in the DP / Vassal folder... what am I doing wrong?? You don't need to unzip anything. Download Dawnpatrolv11.mod. then download the planepack into the same dir. the plane pack is an executable java program that will update Dawnpatrolv11.mod. double click the planepack to run it. It will create a 3rd file called v11withplanepack. Start vassal and when you select play module select v11withplanepack as your module. -Rex

No changes yet. I will probably hold off on any name changing until the next plane pack comes out. So don't worry. Plus I will post on the boards when anything changes.
