I don't know what you're talking about and I haven't seen DROME yet but at the risk of disappointing folks, the answer is "no." My blind guess is that someone who would otherwise have written absolutely nothing for any DP site or newsletter saw my editorial about freeze frame gaming, worked themselves into a dither and got off their can long enough to actually get involved. Actually, the author makes his counter-points w/o much dither and certainly w/o his historically acidic tongue,IMHO. I may submit MHO for the 'Drome but it wouldn't be much more than I have already stated on the forum.

Hey, this may be a dumb question (I ask lots of those) but I was wondering if maybe boardgame aces should be differentiated from VDP aces and if the criteria for a VDP pilot to be considerd an "ace' should be lesser? I ask because for people like me who have only ever played the game online, it's much harder to get pilots to high mission and/or kill numbers. My guy with the most missions is a 4/1 and I'm guessing other folks who play exclusively via VDP are probably almost the same. Just a thought.

Sorry Kirk, the rulebook clearly states 12M 5K on that one... now if we can work to speed up VDP games, then you will get there much more quickly!!
The average FTF game takes less than an hour, while the average VDP game is still taking over 2 hours...

Instead of calling them "aces", maybe just something like "top VDP pilots" or something along those lines. In other words, it would be nice to somehow incorporate pilots of "VDP only" players into the mix. Just a thought.

Ok guys, You should all be receiving the Aerodrome it went out on Wednesday Now that the list is out and published, we can go ahead and post the WAR (World Ace Rankings) again if anyone is interested. It'd be an Excel spreadsheet hosted on a site (IndySqdn? Apache?) and I'd update it once a quarter probably. We'd post a downloadable submission sheet on the same site and people could DL, fill it out, forward it along, and I'd update it. Any interest in such a thing? |
