I've pondered this for some time... I think Aerodrome needs new life. Perhaps a format change or some drastically new material, etc. etc.
My thoughts are: The "Reminiscences" column has long since run its course. So far as I know the questions haven't changed for fifteen years or more.
The Historical Perspectives columns should be outsourced to WWI historians who would like to write a piece. Maybe a post here or on theaerodrome.com would drum up a few original works.
And most of all, I think Aerodrome needs new rules in every issue without exception. Perhaps a ruling from MC on issues such as Lewis gun firing ranges on SE's, observer firing at same target as pilot in two seaters, etc., etc.
Included in that should be a steady flow of the latest rules for the 8th edition. Perhaps a printed set of a/c stats off the web.
This is not a criticism of Aerodrome, just a few things I'd like to see in the newsletter. Its a good thing and I look forward to receiving my copy every time, I just believe the format has become a bit stale.
