Calling all Pilots!
On Line game of Dawn Patrol scheduled for 12th march 2006
8.00pm GMT / 3.00pm EST
its free!!!!
Game Format
Rules: all of the original rules from the 1980 boxed set, and no house rules.
Damage: all damage will be rolled openly using the online dice by the player doing the shooting
Tailing cards:white tailing cards will be used
Mission: Patrol using normal pilots of two missions, other mission particulars will be rolled on the day depending on number of players
Time Zone: Know your time zone and how far behind or infront of GMT you are
What you need:
Your rule books and charts
Pencil / sharpener / rubber
Pilot/aircraft log sheet
Latest versions of Java and Vassal installed with the Dawn Patrol module
How to install and set up
1.go to www.vassalengine.org/community/index.php
2. on the left hand side under quick launch click on ain menu click the 'getting started' tab.
3..click on installation (Tip: all of the information about vassal and how to use it is here within these headings)
4. follow the instructions there, ie download the latest java and then down load the latest Vassal Engine.
5. install on your computer (Tip: dont try to rename the file path of where it wants to install).
6.you now need to download the Dawn patrol Module
7. go back to vassal home page and then click on the modules tab under the main menu list.
8. scroll down and find the Dawn Patrol module and click on it
9. at the top of the DP map click on the tab labeld 'File' you will then see a ZIP file, download it by clicking on it, it will save to your computer
10. unZip the file into the Vassal folder which was created when you installed vassal.
11. your done! double click on the start up icon on your desktop
12. the current version of vassal is 2.5.2 if you already have vassal installed its worth while visiting the site and click ing on Quick launch to download any updates to the program.
What to do on the day
Have everything ready
Launch vassal selecting the Dawn patrol module.
Dont load the map
Go on line by using the 'connecting to the server button'
Click on the dawn Patrol folder (room) and then you'll see a game in progress but not yet started that'll be me. right click on the room and select join. Hey presto youll be in.
Once every one is in and ready ill load the map and then every one right clicks on my name and selects synchronize.
Game on!!!

After the 12th march the game will be held on the last sunday of every month at 8.00pm GMT 3.00pm EST and ill draw up communal records and rostas for ongoing effect.
