Due to popular demand the MN group is going to start including seaplane missions in our games. I for one think there are too many planes already and would rather fly earlier 1916 missions, but thats just me. SO, this means we need seaplane counters. I have been able to find profile drawings for a few of the aircraft, but have been unable to find the following-
Felixstowe F.2A Albatros W.5 Friedrichshafen 33L Friedrichshafen FF49 Gotha WD 14 Hansa-Brandenburg GW Hansa-Brandenburg W-12
Does anyone have these files online that they are willing to share? Also, at the wingman tourney we flew a mission with Hanriot HD-3's which seems like a new plane to me. I found a counter for it, but does anyone know of other new aircraft that will be included in the next edition? Thanxs!

I just checked all my electronic files and don't have any of those planes in them. However, I'm sure that either Barton or Ken have some or all of those planes... I've seen their counter sheets in the past but I can't remember who it was who had them. Maybe someone can help more, but I'm sure they exist.
BTW, I don't think the problem is too many planes... see related topic on this forum (TOO MANY PLANES?).

Andrew,
I have an old 1968 book called "The Pocket Encyclopedia of World Aircraft in Color, Bombers 1914-1919, Patrol and Reconnaissance Aircraft". It's got some top views of a couple of the aircraft you're looking for as well as a bunch of others. Can you use them or are you looking for something specific?

Hey Kirk if you have top views I'm sure Andrew would be interested. We did get a counter sheet from Ken at the mini con and that filled alot of holes. Not sure if it filled them all though.

If you're interested in sharing your counters, I think they would make a very interesting addition to Vassal Dawn Patrol. I've been working on adding as many planes as possible... I'm just shy of 150 individual counters for each of the allies and central powers, and have added many aircraft not available in the original game, but have not included any sea planes yet.

Kevan, I have most of these counters ready for you... just wanted to let you get the first round complete before I 'barrage' you with more... I will send them soon! I will have to check, but i think we have all the counters now as far as the seaplanes go. If not, I will let you know which I need Kirk & you can check your book for them. Thanxs! ~andrew

For some reason, didn't connect "AP" and "Andy" when I posted the comment last night. I'm ready for those counters whenever you want to send them. With the release of the Plane Pack 1 today, I believe I'm totally caught up with my counter making. I won't have time to resume until next week some time, and I'll probably use my time time to start tracking down new images for counter conversion, so if you send them any time in the next couple of weeks, they will make it into the next Plane Pack for VDP.

Probably the easiest thing to do would be to download the Plane Pack, and then look for planes that aren't represented yet. Ideally, I would like to have at least one of each aircraft that saw front line service in any numbers, plus any of the more interesting of the rare and one-off planes.
Sorry, I realise I'm taking things a bit off-topic here. As I embark on my research, I will make sure to keep an eye out for the planes you've mentioned above.

How about some big bombers? That actually raises a question though. If a DP square is 100' wide and a Handley Page or Zeppelin-Staaken or other big bomber has a wingspan longer than 100', should the counter take up more than one square?

Andrew, you may wish to check out the following website. I just found it for the first time after 3 weeks of researching 3-view and profile drawings, so it's pretty obscure, but it does have at least one or two of the planes you'er looking for. www.geocities.com/ww1fighters/index.htm
