Hey all! I've been a sporadic Dawn Patrol for over 20 years now. Since it's always been one of my all time favorite game, I've decided to get a monthly game started with our local gaming club. I could use some help though. We played one game last weekend with four newbies, and it went pretty well, but there are some things that I think could be very helpful: - A Quick Reference Chart with that includes all the manuevers and the firing arcs.
- A more comprehensive Mission Log (I've seen them with some stuff from the original Quick Ref sheet on them, but I don't have any electronic copies of it).
- A random mission generator.
If anyone has any of this stuff that they would be willing to share, I would much appreciate it. If not, I may put some stuff together myself and post if on Boardgamegeek.com for everyone to use, but that will definitely take some time. Plus, I don't want to re-invent the wheel if it's been done already. Thanks again!

I have seen one with manuvers but not including firing arcs - you're right, that would be very useful.

The one that I use is off the old Aerodrome site, if you can't DL it there I can send you a PDF
[/li][li]A random mission generator.
Again, there was one on the old Aerodrome site. A friend of mine also created one using MS Excel. Of the two, the Aerodrome one was not truly random (not sure why, maybe programming?) and weighted heavily to f v f WF 1918 missions.
Good to hear there is some interest. What area of the country are you located in?

Hello, I can help with 'A more comprehensive Mission Log' Check out the MN players website here- www.geocities.com/cubsfan4life1908/Ghost_Jasta.htmlGo to the resources page, I have a number of different logs available for download in PDF format. As far as a mission generator, I think we posted something in the 'VDP' online DP section of this forum, so check there & lmk if you dont find it! If you are interested in actually PLAYING online, we have a group that plays Thursday nights on VASSAL- check out the webpage for it on this website! Hope you can make it!!

Thanks for the help, guys! It doesn't look like the Aerodrome site has anything specific to Dawn Patrol anymore, just links to this site. The mission logs on the Ghost Jasta site are great! Just the kinda thing I was looking for. In fact, the first one is the one I was referring to in my original post. I just wish they were in Excel format so that I could modify them to my liking... but hey, you can't have everything. I checked under the VDP link on the website, and under VDP in the forum, and I didn't see any topics that looked like they might include a Mission Generator. If you still have it and could e-mail it to me, I would really appreciate it. My e-mail is yoodle@comcast.net. As for the questions about me, I am from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, and I am one of the organizers for a gaming club called GASP (The Gaming Association of SW PA) http:\\www.gaspgamer.com. I am definitely interested in playing on VASSAL, but timing is an issue. I have been planning on trying it out with some of our local players first to get used to the interface before I jump into a Thursday night game. Of course, I said that about 6 months ago and haven't gotten around to it yet. I'm bad like that... Thanks again for the help, and other suggestions are appreciated.

Well, we dont always have a foursome on Thursday nights, and the whole group is always eager to meet & play with new players- we are always willing to help new players learn as well, so if you are shy just because you are not used the system yet, to play with others really seems to have been the best way for newbies to learn. We would love to have you on board!

Timing is an issue for me too, about every time a VASSAL game gets going I'm doing something else. They need to be like Friday nights at about 11 pm eastern....

What time do you guys start? Maybe I'll try to join you next Thursday (12/20). I think I'm with AlbPilot though... I might have a better chance of attending late on a Friday night (after 9 PM) than any other time.

Very nice. I really like the naval scenario too. I may try that out one of these days. Thanks!

We have not had much attendance on Thursday Nights lately, so I think we may try & switch it up. I am starting a poll in the 'VDP' section to see if we can get a better day/time, so please check it out and vote!!

Once I get one game in I think I'll feel more comfortable and can start setting some time aside for it. And once I've figured out how things work, I may be able to rope in one or two people from my gaming club to join us. I know there were at least two people that were at least mildly interested.
