Well-known WWI aviation expert and author Greg VanWyngarden has just completed a review of the pre-publication manuscript of Stephen Skinner's new book, THE STAND: The Final Flight of Lt. Frank Luke, Jr.
"I usually don't like doing this kind of thing," VanWyngarden said, "but the research in the book is incredible. I was honored to do it." VanWyngarden, author of WWI aviation titles such as Richthofen's Circus, Albatros Aces of WWI, Jagdstaffel 2 Boelcke and many more, finalized his review last week after reading the nearly 500 page manuscript. It reads in part:

New Trailer for Documentary Now Complete
The first official trailer for The Search for THE STAND was debuted on a giant screen before a live audience at the National Museum of the US Air Force last September, but our mailing list members will have the opportunity to pre-screen the second trailer before anyone else. Watch your mailbox for more information in mid-August.
The second official trailer for The Search for THE STAND is now completed and scheduled for an August 18th premier. It will be debuted simultaneously on numerous web sites including TheAerodrome, THESTANDfrankluke and other major WWI aviation web sites worldwide.
"We wanted the new trailer to show the mood of the whole work," said THE STAND author Stephen Skinner. "So this is a completely different type of piece than the first one. This trailer takes you to many of the places that the 2007 Frank Luke Discovery Expedition found in France, and gives you a sort of 'then and now' look. Its like walking back in time. I think Luke fans are going to love it."
"Back in Time" Music Video Enters Production Late This Week
As studio work wraps up on artist Olivia Kay's theme song for the new documentary, The Search for THE STAND, preparation begins for shooting the accompanying music video.
All recording on the new single is expected to be completed by Tuesday, July 29th, after which the song will be sent into final mixing by sound engineers. While that process continues, singer/songwriter Olivia Kay (OliviaKay-dot-org) will begin shooting the music video for the title song, Back in Time.
"For me, its really exciting because its the next step up," said Olivia, who is starring in her first music video. "Its the next step for me, and it helps make me a well-rounded musician who can do it all... sing, write, and present something visually." Olivia is now performing the song live on her current 35-date concert tour, which wraps up in Greenwood, Indiana on August 1st.
Subscribers to THE STAND's mailing list will have a chance to preview the new video before it is publicly released. Sign up for the mailing list on THE STAND's web site.
THE STAND Featured on Cover of Fall Catalog
From nearly 2,000 total books featured in the new Fall catalog from Schiffer Military History Books, THE STAND: The Final Flight of Lt. Frank Luke, Jr. was among only five chosen to grace the cover.
Further, THE STAND is the only World War I book to make the cover at all, and THE STAND is the first WWI-oriented book printed in the catalog. It also receives top billing with more ad space than any other WWI book.
That is especially significant considering the fact that WWII books generally receive far more media attention and publicity than those of the Great War. The new catalog is now in the mail to thousands of readers worldwide.
And one final note for exclusively for THE STAND fans...
Set aside September 29th, 2008 and plan to be in Phoenix, Arizona for a once in a lifetime event! Details coming soon.

It is a rare occurrence in the field of WWI aviation literature when a new book can truthfully be called "definitive" or "the final word on the subject." In this writer's opinion, THE STAND can claim both those titles when it comes to the fabled and controversial last mission of Frank Luke, Jr., the legendary Arizona Balloon Buster. Stephen's exhaustive and meticulous research has fully solved the mystery.
THE STAND is gripping biography, precise military history, and fascinating detective story all in one. This book will come as a surprise and a delight... it immediately makes every other Luke book and article obsolete.
