I may be running a bit late this Thursday. Shouldn't be any later than 9pm CDT though.

We got started a bit late last night as four flyers (Kirk, Kevan, Mark, and Dan) dueled in an early war scenario while a newcomer (Todd) watched as a spectator. Mark and Dan were in Albs while Kevan and Kirk were in Nieuports. Turn one saw both Germans close in on Kirk with side shots but only one attacker did any damage. Turn two was a repeat of turn one as both Germans took shots at Kirk, leaving him with an engine crit and not running at full song. Turn three saw the Allies turn the tables a bit, but Kirks shot with his wing mounted Lewis was ineffectual while Kevan did some damage with his twin guns. Turn four saw Kirk looking at the clock on the wall and realizing he had to leave, so since he failed to successfully tail he headed for the deck and back to his aerodrome. Kevan stuck around and tailed Mark and did some sizeable damage the following turn (even while jamming a gun), but then I had to take off so someone else will need to fill us in on how things turned out.
As I briefly mentioned, a new player named Todd joined us for the evening and spectated. He owns DP and played it many years ago, but didn't want to play last night as he was worried he'd forgotten too much. Hopefully he'll join us again on our regular gaming night as well as for any other "pickup" games that may occur during the week.

Things got interesting after Kirk left. I kept on Mark's tail, but emptied my Lewis drum and my Vickers jammed. So I started to climb, leaving 450' shots for the Germans to keep them interested while I successfully changed my drum and then unjammed. By that time, Dan had given up and headed for home. Mark kept up a dogged pursuit, and when I finally won an initiative roll, I dove in for a 200' side shot that netted me a pilot hit. I tailed Mark on his subsequent dive, until he cut his engine and started gliding. He was able to successfully land his plane on a patch of clear terrain, but died of his wounds.
