Rex, where are you at?
Several folks have tried hard to start up VASSAL DP games with no real luck yet. If you want to try again I'm all for it. If someone keeps pushing it, sooner or later it will happen. Persistence is the key. There was quite a bit of talk about VASSAL gaming here a year or so ago... poke around on this forum and you'll find it.

Thanks for the advice Stephen. I'll start pushing for it. I'm in San Diego. There are a few game stores in town that have gaming areas but with a new baby in the house I don't think I'll be getting out much. I did a search for vassal before I posted, but I'll take a closer look and see if I can dig up those old posts.
Anyone who is interested in participating in a Vassal game, Post in this thread the days and times that you are available and we will see what we can work out.
I'm available Most week nights after 6pm PT and all day on Sat. I have Team Speak and Skype for voice communication, which should make getting the game started much easier.

Ok, its a date as long as my work doesn't interfere that day. (they can be so demanding some times. ) I have updated my original post with the links to Vassal and edited the subject to see if we can attract more people. If not, I'll be happy to be schooled 1 on 1. And we can work out the logistics of getting the game up and running on the Vassal server. Also, do you have the ability to use Voice communications (TS or Skype)? I'm sure that will smooth the process quite a bit. If not I can post links for those as well.

First of all, thanks for the email notification Rex. I'm not sure where you came across my email address, but I'm glad you did.
I should be able to make the game on the 7th. I'm on CST (Manitoba, Canada) so 9am PT is a bit early, but I suppose I can brew a pot of coffee. I don't have any voice software, but I've used Vassal before, mostly for Advanced Squad Leader.
I downloaded the Vassal module about a year and a half ago, but until quite recently I've seen almost no activity. I haven't had a decent game of DP in more than a decade, so my apologies in advance if I'm "the slow one" for the session.
Now off to dust off the rulebook and see what I've forgotten...

First of all, thanks for the email notification Rex. I'm not sure where you came across my email address, but I'm glad you did. Well by registering on the Vassal page as a Dawn Patrol player I was able to send email to everyone listed there as a DP Player. I should be able to make the game on the 7th. I'm on CST (Manitoba, Canada) so 9am PT is a bit early, but I suppose I can brew a pot of coffee. Glad to hear you can make it. To be more specific PT is Pacific Daylight Time. So if you observe daylight savings time in Manitoba it would be 11am for you. Hope its not to bad. I haven't had a decent game of DP in more than a decade, so my apologies in advance if I'm "the slow one" for the session. Well I have not played in many years as well so I'm sure we will be leaning on Stephen as the veteran player. See you then. -Rex

Oh yeah... rises in east, sets in west... so that's why I always seem to be landing on the wrong side of the front...

Rex, Kevan- Glad to hear there is some interest in the on-line game!! I played once or twice last year with a few guys from the UK, but it sort of fizzled when finding a fourth didnt happen all the time. I would be interested in playing again and I know a few more MN players are interested as well, so I will spread the word. I unfortunately cannot make it this Saturday morning, but please continue to post play times and I will join you in the future!!
Stephen- I found in the few instances I played that using the original DP charts that the others had was most effective...attempting to introduce new aircraft charts and the updated single gun firing tables threw everyone off...

So what's the time difference from ET to PT? 3 hrs? Yes, Eastern is 3 hours ahead. So 9am PT is Noon ET. It only gets tricky when you start converting to GMT and adding in Daylight savings time. But I think the UK is on Daylight time as well so every thing should be the same. Heck now im confusing my self. Anyhow.. I will try to get the game up on the server a few min early and I will post to this thread when I do so that people know they can start connecting. -Rex

I'm afraid I may be late... we have a house showing until noon, so as soon as they're gone I'll have to hustle in and hook up.
And daylight savings time is the intellectual equivalent of unplugging your clock so it won't get dark. Stamp out DST and the stupidity that created it. Join the Holy Cause.
