ISD has ten years of paper back-issues that I have always wanted to put online as part of our archives. The Archives section will never be complete until it has the entire history of ISD on it, and I need some help with this. I've struggled with this for a long time. Its been suggested that I put them into PDF format so folks can read them, and I 'd be glad to if I could. When I scan something, I can save it as a .bmp, .exf, .pcd, .pcx, .jpeg, .psd, .png, .tiff, .tga or .wmf file. However, when you go to www.pdfonline.com/ and check it out, you find that you cannot convert any of these file types to PDF format. So even if I scan them, I still can't convert them to PDF. Any ideas?

i can play around with it, i am sure we can convert to pdf...format.

Any ideas? There are a couple of software packages out there that allow direct conversion to .pdf from things like Word. However, it might be easier to scan them into a digital sender somewhere (working for HP, I do this a lot) and email them. The attachment with the scan is a .pdf.

Gary, no, I checked the page carefully and my Lexmark scanner (yuk) cannot save a file in any of the necessary formats that synch with the online PDF converter. I'll see if I can scan one and still get it to you yet today.
Rick, I don't know what a digital sender is. Is that its actual name? Give me a couple of keywords to look up and I'll try to educate myself and see if its something I have the equipment to do.

their are some products out their, that will install a 'virtual' printer (if that is the correct term), that you print to, like a normal printer, but the actual output becomes a pdf document.....so no actual printing is done..
we have a canon all singing, all dancing printer, i can scan, to tiff or pdf format....so if you send me an image, i can print it, then scan it back as a pdf file....not sure how it will look....
or...
i can run the image, through some converters i have ( i have several kicking around for various things i have done in the past), and see if that works.

Stephen, I have a copy of Acrobat. I usually import directly into PDF from the scanner. But I just tested and was able to "open as a pdf" a .jpg and then save that pdf. If you would like to send me the scans of a single issue, I can put them into a pdf and send it back to you as a test.
