The winner of RBF XVII may need a wheelbarrow to haul home his goodies. Here is a partial list of the prizes to be bestowed upon our next champ...
- The Silver Goblet, of course! Plated with pure silver and engraved with the event, the Goblet is the traditional winner's prize.
- Eight new dice of your choice, courtesy of Gamerz gaming club. You will be permitted to browse the shop immediately after the game and select any eight D6 that strike your fancy. Thanks to Tim, Dan and the gang at Gamerz for chipping in. They just committed to the prize this evening.
- Automatic induction into the Red Baron Fight Hall of Fame (see RBF page on left sidebar menu).
- A triple rack of 48 6-sided colored dice from The Armory.
And we're still working to broaden the prize package with several other surprises... some of them REALLY cool... but we can't advertise them until the deals are secured, so hang on for more info.
I really think that in November's Armistice Day tourney, Indy offered the best single prize package in Dawn Patrol. As it turned out it was split between Ben and Ken, but it was still a whale of a prize package featuring the Victory Medal, the Armistice Day title, the squadron championship title, induction into the Hall of Fame, a free pass to Gen Con '06, a new WWI aviation book from Osprey Publishing.
I hope we can top that in RBF XVII. I'll keep you posted, but remember this... if you make it to Indianapolis to play in the Red Baron Fight, we'll make it worth the trip. We're working on a killer prize package.

the 29th actual works for me (i am an out of towner), as i will be heading down to florida for some training and a conference, so a tour out of my way to indianapolis, isnt out of the questions.
so some questions, to help me determine whether or not i can make it.
1) what time on saturday does the event start. 2) approx what time will it end? 3) i am not a newbie to gaming, or for that matter not a complete newbie with dawn patrol, but for this game you may want to consider me a newbie, so what extra effort would be required? i dont want to slow things down.
thanks garyb

a - gaming usually starts around 10 am, the RBF about 1-ish. b - the RBF usually runs about 2-3 hours by itself.
c - probably very little extra effort.
Stop by if you can! We'd love to have you play.

Modeler Phillipe Jourdan has shipped the statuette of MvR. It should be here later this week. I'll post it when it arrives, as I know several Indy players are (justifiably) nervous about offering it as a prize because we were let down by another modeler several years ago. But this one is finished and on the way!

BTW, the modeler, Phillipe Jourdane, not only has built us the model but has spent $35 to ship the MvR statuette to us and refuses to accept repayment saying that it is his gift to the Indy Squadron.
How cool is that?

The statue of Manfred von Richthofen has arrived from France!
Just came via parcel post today and it is beautiful. Its about five inches high, seems to be made of a ceramic type material and has been finished in an aged bronze look. The artist, Phillipe Jourdane, has weighted the base so that it stays in place and can also serve as a paper weight type memento.
The figure of the Red Baron was not fixed in place, rather it was placed on a pin which sets into the base and allows the figure to be rotated as the owner desires. Its is VERY nice little piece and I don't think anything like this has ever been offered as a prize before in DP.
Unlike another modeler who was to help us with prizes several years ago, Phillipe was good for his promise and we don't have to worry about winning something that never arrives. Its already here, and its beautiful.
See you on the 29th!
