Stephen Dale, I really would like to know what you meant in your statements about the Bible in the other thread. Are you denying that the Bible is the infallible and inerrant Word of God?

And for clarification this is not a "presumptive question". It's an honest question after reading the statements made. If you want to delete it I will not post here again.

I was simply making a point, you can re read it, at no time did I deny the Bible's truth.
I was trying to get Michael to understand that his belief in the Bible gives it no more merit as actual truth than someone who believes in the koran.
The greater point was that the Bible's truth stands whether or not Michael believes in it, which led to the even greater point that my father was trying to make, that truth and reality are not subject to one's perception, and that if the Bible is genuinely truth then we should have no problem putting it to the test.

SD was pretty explicit in his statement that the bible is infallible, but our interpretation of it is not. I think everyone else got that meaning pretty plainly. In fact, I think he said that in almost those same words?

Well that is good to hear. It just came across that way. Unfortunately, many statements like mine are so taboo in the Christian world that no one thinks of the motivation or meaning behind them. I think it is wonderful that we agree that the Bible is infallible, and from that point we can have many rewarding debates. But we must be prepared to leave that box once it comes time to debate with an atheist or satanist or the like... it is critical to meet them at the point they are at, not where we wish them to be.

Well considering that I've had the great joy of leading a Satanist, a former exotic dancer, and a Jehovah's Witness all to Christ using the Bible, I think I'll stick with God's Word which is a discerner of the hearts of men.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. So are you saying using God's Word to evangelize is like a "broken clock" ?

God says "Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the Word of God." Why abandon the Bible just because some atheist or Satanist denies it?

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. What is this even directed at?

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. What is this even directed at? My point is this - I believe that it is best to meet people where they are at (an admitted generalization for the type of evangelization SD is talking about), however, other types of work may yield results even if they are poor human relations.

Sure sounds like you're saying it's not possible to "meet someone where they are at" AND use the Word of God to evangelize them, AND have good human relations.
