Great news for innocent civilians in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq and other defenseless, postage-stamp sized countries... if your child has been blown to smithereens by an American bomb, if you stand in line and fill out the right forms and papers, you could get up to $2,500 in compensation!
WOO HOO!!!!
And it gets better! If you've had, for instance, your left leg crushed and amputated after being shot, bombed, or tortured by US interrogators, you can get more than $600 in payoffs.
If your car is destroyed you can receive up to $2500, too. For those of you who have just realized that the US government places as much value on your 1988 Caprice as it does your child who was buried alive in a bombing, think nothing of it... just move along, citizen. Nothing to see here.
And finally, the farm field that was destroyed that you worked day and night all year to sow in order to feed the children you no longer have (see preceding paragraph) can now rake in 250 bucks.
Winning hearts and minds, folks. That's what its all about.

I'd hardly call them "defenseless, postage-stamp sized countries", we wouldn't be there if they were.

I'd hardly call them "defenseless, postage-stamp sized countries", we wouldn't be there if they were. At the time of the US invasion: Afghanistan's newest tank model was over 40 years old. The Afghan army had precisely 1,750 soldiers, making their entire ground force smaller than the Indianapolis police department. The Afghan National Army Air Corps was disbanded in 1992. They had no air organized protection against the US invaders whatsoever. Now to Iraq at the time of the US invasion: The Iraqis had 950 aircraft (compared to our 9,200) in the early 1990's. If they had had an air force, they would have been outnumbered 10 to 1. But they didn't. The vast majority of Iraqi aircraft were destroyed on the ground in Gulf War I. The few remaining aircraft were sent to Iran for safety, where they were impounded and never returned. Ten remaining MiG-23 fighters were sent to Yugoslavia in the late '90s for repair and due to the outbreak of war, were never sent back. In Gulf War I, the tiny Iraqi navy had 19 ships sunk and 6 more damaged - nearly their entire fleet. They were never rebuilt. When the US initiated their (most current) invasion, the Iraqis had no air force at all, no navy at all, and their ground forces were still shattered from our last invasion. The uncomfortable truth is that the USA started wars against two utterly defenseless nations. All this information was readily available if you had wanted it. SEEK TRUTH
