I happen to have two very good friends who are officers for IPD. Don't give up on them. It's never too late to confess sin, ask the forgiveness of your victims, to turn away from service to Satan and give your life to God. "Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus." - Paul This is a highly presumptive statement so do not be surprised if Mr. Richeson choses not to respond to this.

No it was just a ridiculous assertion, that being a police officer is a sin, and it's not at all defendable by Scripture. There's a term for it, we know it as LEGALISM.

Things like this on Lew Rockwell's site just blow my mind with their thoughtfulness and unbiased reporting: (NOT)
A Chorus of Pigs Posted by Butler Shaffer on March 16, 2010 07:39 PM
I have long heeded the advice of Robert Heinlein, when he said: “Never try to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time and it annoys the pig.” With this thought in mind, I refrained from commenting on the highly vocal conversation being conducted — in the grocery-store checkout line — by two denizens from the shallow end of the gene pool. They were ranting about the state of health care in America, and concluded that “we should have government-run health care; just let the government pay for all of this, no questions asked.”
I doubt that any synapse would have been energized in the brains of either of these twits for me to have pointed out that virtually all of the political and social problems we face have been occasioned by this attitude of “no questions asked.”

I'm certainly glad that my good friend who I used to play RPG's with all the time growing up, and who I invited several times over the years to Dawn Patrol never actually came. Because he happens to also be a detective with IPD. And I'd now have to warn him that my longtime friends like to visit websites that post such insightful comments as "Kill all the pigs".

The more I read this drivel at sites like Lew Rockwell's, I will reiterate that it's garbage. I feel sorry for anyone who allows their mind to be filled with that trash. It's not beneficial at all. There are people out there who just hate authority in all shapes and sizes. They don't want anyone to have authority over them. And they hide out in movements like these. You can say I'm being emotional if you want, but I cannot BELIEVE some of the garbage that is posted on these sites.

A couple of weeks ago I ran into another long time friend that I grew up with. We were at Meijer. He and his wife both have been friends of mine since we were about 12. He works for IPD. Gracen wanted to see his police car, and since he was just waiting for his wife, he was glad to show her. He flipped on the lights for a moment and she was thrilled. But he said, "I really can't leave them on long." And he shut them back off.
As we were standing there talking two guys came walking out of Meijer. One of them was wearing camo pants. I heard him distinctly saying some drivel like, "Oh look at that guy abusing his authority, wonder how he's harrassing those people?" I'm glad my friend didn't hear this.
I wonder if he's a frequenter of sites like Lew Rockwell's?
There's my little story about the "Amerikan Police state". People like Lew Rockwell are poisoning the brains of men and women.

Both sides are poisoning people's brains, there is a middle ground between both views that needs to be found.

As you pointed out previously, not all cops are bad and not all cops are good. I have a friend that is an Indiana State Trooper. Great guy, can always count on him if needed, he coached Olivia one year in basketball. People will see what they want to see. For everyone out there who wants to maintain all cops are bad, I would say they are guilty of gross stereotyping. Conversely anyone who says all cops are good are probably guilty of the same error. From your post above though, I think perhaps you are making the same error also in stereotyping everyone who visits that site as an example of extremeism and idiocy. Perhaps you might want to think about that? I personally don't visit that site, never found it of interest to me. I do visit a newslink site called roguegovernment.com and abovetopsecret.com because those seem to keep a more level tone (although ATS is starting to degenerate a bit lately). Additionally, you might want to read back through several of the threads I started in this forum about abuse of government power, each has links to quite a few stories detailing such things, and I think the fact there are so many of them should be somewhat alarming to anyone who values the things America was built on. Having a healthy skepticism is as vital to freedom and liberty as freedom of religion or freedom of the press in my opinion.

Having a healthy skepticism is as vital to freedom and liberty as freedom of religion or freedom of the press in my opinion. I agree about healthy skepticism and examining things. I've always told people I taught either from the pulpit or just in small groups to go and examine everything, don't just take it because I say it. I just find so many of the sites that post a lot of the articles in this thread to be very stupid. All of that "Kill the pigs" garbage is just....well......it's ignorant. And I saw it on so many of those sites in their forums etc..... I firmly believe that there are just some people who hate authority and don't want anyone to have any authority whatsoever over them. And they hide out in a lot of these movements.

Posting these article and refusing to give fair consideration to other sources is not healthy skepticism in my mind. It's buying into a worldview and finding things to fit your worldview.
