Okay, people... this is The Big One. Who's playing for all the marbles on November 17?

Wayne and I and Wyatt will all be present. Billy Young says he is off and would like to compete. If so, he could be a legitmate threat despite his inexperience.

Billy was surprisingly good, wasn't he? Would be nice to see him come out.

I really enjoyed it. Our big games always seem to be pretty good, but this one was better than most. I thought sure we had the Germans in a corner on about turn five. And I thought I had a good shot at the title, too. My dry spell is getting long enough and I'm ready to win one again. I hate coming that close and walking away empty handed. Grrr.

I really enjoyed the game as well. It was minus the usual tension and was a good time, reminding me of some of the great games of old.
Wayne and I fared pretty well if you consider the fact that for several turns we were the only Germans able to do anything after we lost Evan and essentially Rick and Ken were not able to do anything either.
I really believe that the first 7-8 turns went about as well as any championship I've played in until Dory came along. The Pink Panther Strikes Again!
I was only missing that one lucky bullet after dishing out 38 bullets, firing every turn, and only missing one time. With a lucky bullet here or there, who knows I might have recorded a kill or two.
In any case, kudos to Ken. He was utterly useless to the Germans the first half of the game and came in at the right time in the 2nd half of the game to collect on some beaten up Allies.
It just goes to show that it's always better to be flying and shooting at the end, than to be doing great at the beginning!

In any case, kudos to Ken. He was utterly useless to the Germans the first half of the game and came in at the right time in the 2nd half of the game to collect on some beaten up Allies. It just goes to show that it's always better to be flying and shooting at the end, than to be doing great at the beginning! Its true that you have to be there at the end (and have good guns, too!). And yes, Ken collected on Stephen Dale who had beaten up by others, but that's not just Ken... everyone does that late in any game. I cashed in on Evan's mistake, too, but its not my fault that he was beaten up and failed to dive away even after additional prompting, so I can't fault others for doing the same. If someone is just dying to make themselves a target, well... IMHO you have to do three things to win... shoot constantly, be there at the end, and get lucky. I shot a lot and was there at the end, but had no luck... my guns kept jamming at 5%. You shot a lot but never got lucky and weren't there at the end. Scott was there at the end and shot a lot, but no luck for him either (gun jams). You've got to have all three. Two of those factors are in your control and the third one isn't. My only gripe - which isn't really a gripe, but a lament of lousy luck - was that its too hard to get that close and walk away empty handed. Grrr. That was a tough pill to swallow because the Victory Medal was mine to lose after turn four. But man, what a great game!

Stephen Dale was late in getting them written, and I figured everyone would want to see the Armistice issue right away. They'll either be added or put in the next issue.
