I'm excited about Armistice Day this year. My dice rolls seem to be evening out finally after almost 3 years of rotten luck.

Here's smack talk: If I don't have to move first or near first practically every turn I will finish in the top 3 again.

We may have a weaker field this year if Rick and Ken can't make it... might help some of us old dogs trying to repeat.

I don't think it will be any weaker given the level of play of some of the new players. I played 2 games with Michael Morgan last night and he's tenacious and hungry for blood during a Dawn Patrol game. Wesley Morgan is dangerous simply for his lack of concern about the actual survival of his own pilots and the willingness to make head-on attacks. During a game last night, Wayne and I flew our famous French aces Museir and Richeson, and the Morgan boys pushed them as close to being defeated as they've ever been. Wayne's Richeson wound up fleeing the fight having taken so much damage.

Michael Morgan is a serious threat to join an elite group in winning Red Baron Fight and Armistice Day in the same year.

They are certainly above average for newbies, but they're still newbies and more prone to errors than a Ken or Rick. Plus it looks as if we may have some genuine DP rookies on hand, which is a total wildcard. Rookies have no stake in the game - they're motivations are entirely different - and they frequently things that alter the entire course of a game.
So this one should be a little weaker and far more unpredictable.

I don't know if we'll actually have any DP rookies. Angie will probably play the warmup game, but I don't know if she's ready for the big game. I'll leave that one up to her dad. Mike is probably going to play, but he's flown before. I'm torn still on Garrett playing because I'm not sure if he's ready. I agree with you that Rick and Ken are both excellent players and their absence will be missed, but I still think the game quality will be very high, higher than the two years we had 15 players when we actually had newbies and people (like my brother Mason) who didn't care much about the game.

Wyatt at this point is definitely planning on making a return for his 5th Armistice Day appearance. He'll have to wipe off nearly 2 years of Dawn Patrol rust, but he usually did very well at this game.

If Graham plays that makes up for Ken's absence and makes it just as difficult as ever if not more so!

Graham is without question one of the best players I've ever played against. He's an Indy Squadron legend.

I just wrote an extended response to your interesting post above, but I think it deserves its own thread. So look for a ADFT Greatest Player thread to continue.
