This year's prize package has been sweetened by the 2007 GHOST calendar featuring the photography of Phil Makanna, author of the new WWI aviation book "Ghosts." I've got the book and these are without a doubt the most amazing WWI aviation photos I've ever seen. Here's a sneak preview. www.ghosts.com/calendar07i.html

The prize package continues to build for Indy's winner-take-all championship extravaganza (insert applause here).
Joe Gertler Raceway Collections has just donated two ORIGINAL instrument panel placards from a German WWI airplane. These steel placards for the fuel tank air pressure and oil pressure adjustments were discovered at the location of an abandoned German aircraft depot in France in late 1960's. They are mounted and framed with a certificate of authenticity and the history of the items.

Okay... this just gets better and better...
The Fits Society just sent the new Osprey Series aviation books as donations to the winner's prize package for Armistice Day. They just arrived this afternoon.
We also have the limited edition lithograph "Last Dance of the Hussar" from aviation artist Russell Smith, autographed to this year's Indy Squadron Champion.
This comes in addition to the (priceless) Victory Medal, squadron title and induction into the Armistice Day Hall of Fame. So far the prize package stands at around $300 in retail value. Now, if we could only find a million dollar cash sponsor...

The GHOSTS calendar from Phil Makanna arrived today... they are HUGE! Far bigger than what I expected. Really first class. These things are like two feet wide, and they have day-by-day entries corresponding to significant occurances during WWI. This is way cool. Nothing like the calendars you buy at Wal Mart... but far, far bigger and better. I was really surprised.
