Well, Michael and I both blew it at RBF. We both had possible cuts for kill credit with Kevin in RBF XX, and we both defaulted the kill to Kevin. Kevin's pilot ended up with a double kill, and he richly deserved it. However, giving away cuts is not allowed. It didn't occur to me at the time and I'm not sure of the exact wording of the rule, but giving away a cut (even if your pilot died in the mission) is not allowed. If you have an option to cut for the kill, in most cases I believe you have to take it. In this case I'm glad we didn't, as Kevin would have been impossible to live with all year long But that's something to remember next time the question comes up... if you have a cut, I believe you're supposed to take it no matter what.

Oh, I suspect any joy Kevin had in the double kill was mitigated by the fact he didn't score points for either...

The Freikorps uses a chivalrous method of defaulting kills. If a pilot feels he does not deserve to cut for a kill, for any reason, he pulls a card without revealing it, and declares a "duece" while placing the card back in the deck.

I figured it was OK since I won and Mr. Richeson was bummed that he didn't get kill points for Stephen Dale.

Kevin flew a whale of a game and surely deserved to get something out of it. On the other hand, Kevin, we do have to get you to read the Kills and Confirmations Chart. Would save a lot of disappointment anticipating kills for things that aren't kills. There actually is a chart that addresses virtually (!) every situation.
