I just finished a few updates to the ww1aircombat.com website. I setup a new blog module that makes it very easy to give users their own blog. I wanted to offer a blog to each of you that are involved in VDP and to those who have an interest in ww1 aviation. Everyone that has already created a user account has authorship rights to post After Action Reports (post game write-ups) and to submit house rules updates. If you want your own blog - just post here or email me (mention the user name you created on ww1aircombat.com in case it doesn't match the email etc) to request your own blog. A few simple ground rules - no swearing - no posting of anything that isn't rated PG-13. No political wrangling. I do not want to start flame wars on my site. This site is about aviation and vdp and hobbies that go with it. Did you build a cool ww1 airplane model with your son? Post a blog entry with the picture and read your son the feedback, etc. These blogs will each have an RSS icon on the bottom of the page so they can be added to your my.yahoo.com page or your blog reader if you have one. If you want help on anything related to this you can click the contacts link on the website and use the form to email me questions. I hope there are some takers Dan

Hey Dan cool idea! I will be sure to get a blog going! What do you think about adding a message board as well? I think it would be neat to get VDP all setup on ONE site, so players can go there to find out about games in a forum such as this one, get instructions on download, get charts they need etc... Dan were you intending this site VDP exclusive or not?

Great! I setup your blog Andy, let me know if you need any assistance with it.
It is very easy for me to add a forum, but I wasn't really planning on it. This forum is already well established. I do not want to step on anyone's toes or re-invent any wheels unless needed/requested. Stephen, Kev, all who contribute here - what do you guys think? I am happy to host as little or as much of the content that you guys are willing (or want) to part with.
There is also a great new version of the calendar module I use on my church's website. I can set that up at the other website for a dedicated VDP calendar if we need it.
Please post feedback/ideas/feelings on how we want to arrange and distribute content.
Thanks guys
Dan
p.s. As for being VDP exclusive - the ww1aircombat site is really going to be about World War I air combat in general - but heavily dedicated to VDP and the community. Other content will just be occasional articles or "hey check this out" links to appropriate ww1 and ww1 gaming content.

I like the idea of having a website where we can post VDP-related files. I think that having another Dawn Patrol site is the most important thing, and the more content, the better. There are a few files that I would like to see uploaded. Some of them, I'm planning to integrate in the next version of the module, but it would be nice to have them online for players to download and print out. Also, in anticipation of the Spring Mini-Con and inspired by the last edition of Aerodrome, I'm working on creating some counter sheets using the same images that I used for the planes in the module (a lengthy process, as I have to do each counter again from scratch - the ones in the module are too small, and have a poor image quality at 1" x 1").
Regarding the forum question, that's a bit tougher. The Indysquadron site has become the go-to place for the latest information on VDP, and it might be confusing to have a second forum. Of course, everyone will learn eventually, but I'm afraid our community is still small enough that we can't afford to fail in communicating with individual members.
