Kevan, Andy, Dan, and Kirk gathered for an old fashioned mano-a-mano contest. The time was March of 1918 and the combatants flew in decidedly different aircraft. Dan was in an Albatros and Andy was in a Fokker Tripe while Kevan and Kirk faced off against them armed with their Hanriot HD-1's. The planes started out at around 2,500' but the Hanriots tried to use their slight diving advantage to offset the tactical advantage the Germans had. Alas it was not to be as eventually the ground showed up to thwart their attempts. The four planes twisted and turned a couple hundred feet above the ground, taking ground fire all the way. Eventually damage caused Kevan to have to land so the Germans followed Kirk, who sped off and escaped to the south with his pilot who had absorbed a NE pilot hit. Kevan then took off heading north with the Germans turning around to follow. Kirk landed at his aerodrome but annoyed his mechanics by tearing off his undercarraige in the process. At that point this reporter had to call it a night and hit the hay so hopefully someone can fill us in on the remainder of the details.

Not much more to report. My touch-and-go landing on sloping ground in the midst of a medium concentration of enemy troops was a major risk, but managed to finally shake the persistant Andy off my tail. Andy tried to make chase, but gave up when it appeared he was unlikely to catch me. My rookie Belgian landed with 1 hit remaining in his RW and 2 in his CW, the wings having absorbed 24 of 31 enemy hits. Amazingly, not a single critical hit. All of the remaining planes made it home safely.
