We havent had the turnout we thought we would so far for Thursday night games, and I know Thursday is not the greatest for me personally, so I thought I would put a poll out there to see when people may want to play. I think trying to start at 7:00 PM CST may be better as well, that way we could get at least two games in per session. What do you think?

Don't know if I could make a 7 start, but if there was a second game I could almost always be on for that!

I thought we voted a while back and determined Thursday was the best night. I think 8PM would work OK as long as that's when everybody got together. Traditionally people start signing on around 8 but we don't get four untill much later. If could get our four players and start playing within a few minutes of 8 I think we'd be OK. I'd like to start at 7, but at that point my kids are still up and require "guidance" with such things as homework, cleaning rooms, getting ready for school the next day, etc.

The idea of this poll came up while we were online last night. The poll last spring clearly identified Thursday as the prefered night at that time, but peoples' schedules often change seasonally, and we haven't been getting the number of players we'd hoped we would see with the arrival of autumn. Personally, my vote above is still for Thursday, but Monday or Tuesday would work for me as well.

Does anyone else in this group use IM (Instant Messaging)? I think if we got a list of MSN or Yahoo or AIM users and all added each other, that way we could see who is 'online' and have an alternative way to get a foursome. Logging in to VASSAL can take time, it could be much easier to see that 3 ppl are online, send out a message to see if anyone is interested in playing, etc... I am on MSN & Yahoo as- cubsfan4life1908 - feel free to add me if interested!

I agree AIM or a group e-mail is the best way to go. In my case, I had planned on playing but then some things came up and I ended up forgetting until around 8:45. I think the problem with online gaming is that real life can sometimes get in the way too easily and people need gentle reminders that there's a game going on they're missing. At home gaming offers too many distractions that can really slow down gameplay. I think if we added up all the different folks we've had playing VDP over the last few months it would probably number around a dozen folks. Problem is, most of them probably haven't gotten into the habit of thinking about playing on Thursday nights.

I was on a redeye home Thursday, looks like I missed a good game. I would vote for an initial start at 8PM Eastern (7 Central). We may get a quorum, we may not. If by 10 minutes after, we don’t have a game, we can log off and return at 9. I don’t see where we would loose much trying this, and may get a game in now and then.
