I see it this way. We are moving ever so quickly into this 21st century technology and online DP sites are #1 hopefully a way to generate interest in the game #2 a good way to support your local DP community & #3 an excellent way for DP players around the world to keep in touch and build some camaraderie. Ideally there should be a ‘mother’ page (DP.com) that readily advertises the local groups around the country. I would hope a plan such as this would be coordinated with the release of the 8th edition, and there should be a ‘websites’ section in every edition of the Aerodrome, but this is another whole can of worms… So in the meantime ISD is really the place to go to link up with other players as its forum is well established. I am not too concerned with building readership for my site, I just enjoying tinkering & making sure there are online resources for players. If my ace list site flies, cool. If ISD wants to pick it up so we ensure more players see it, that is cool too. Otherwise ISD could always advertise as the home of the list & the link could just go to my page...that way it wouldnt eat up more ISD bandwidth... Jim, the Apache site is looking great!! I will make sure & link it on my site. Maybe someday we can get ESPN “Ocho” to cover the ‘Ghosts vs. Apaches’ team tourney matchup in Vegas after all the online hype...it could be the next Texas Hold'Em craze! ;D

Ok we seem to have a plan here. Andrew would you mind if Stephen Grabbed your Graphics? (I ummmm...Really love those) I'm also hoping Stephan can grab them and make them work on ISD. Rick you seem to be the most motivated of us all to maintain the list. Stephen mentioned that he would grant access to a List Moderator.
Now bear with me gentlemen I tend to push at things in order to keep forward momentum. Feel free to tell me to go soak my head if I push to much.
So Rick when are you going to start compiling your list? And Stephen what might be a timeline for adding a page to the ISD? I personally like Andrews graphics but if you feel that it would disrupt the look/feel of your site then by all means do as you think is best. (Pretty sure you would anyway but like I said I don't want to push you into something you will resent )
Grins, Thanks Andrew the site is progressing as soon as I get a few more moments will send you my plane list.

If we put it on ISD we would need to sacrifice those cool graphics for continuity. The pages are already created (they grow quickly... we'll need a full page for each nationality). They're ready for content right now. I can give Rick access to them as soon as the ace list is complete.
Rick, you'll need to find some way of formating it so that the charts will appear neatly and centered on the page... that was a constant source of headaches for me. Excel files simply would not transfer onto these pages without corrupting and looking awful. I had to transfer them to WORD format first, but you're far better at this stuff than I am.
Joseki and Andy, you guys could provide a big boost by creating some sort of permanent ad on your sites to get people involved. You might coordinate with Rick ... I'm sure he will want to use some sort of format sheet to reduce his workload in retyping everything. You guys might consider carrying a form on your sites that can be downloaded, fill in and sent straight to Rick.

Just a quick FYI to attempt to avoid headaches... Unless you can embed a table on your page, its impossible to format text pulled from excel/word into a webtop so its clean. The problem is every browser recognizes and adjusts differently PCs, MACs, IE, Firefox etc... so what looks straight to one user may be skewed to another. My best suggestion, boring though it may be, is to use a simple font and use the least amount of spaces possible. Actually, creating an image of the 'list' and posting that would be the best way to guarantee continuity...
I plan on keeping an 'ace roster' page of local MN players on my page & will definitely link to ISD worldwide roster once it is up. I would also be happy to compile all the stats of MN players & submit it in whatever form Rick is using.

Andy, would you glance around this site and see our charts? Do they come out okay on your screen? They were all imported from WORD and I think they come out okay. Lots of charts are found on the RBF and Armistice records and games pages.

Sounds like we have lift off. I will be more than happy to put whatever Rick requires on the AZ site, and I think Andrew has a great idea about keeping local stats. Guess I'll talk to my web guy about that too. Andrew can I try and Nab your Graphics for the AZ page?

The submissions will begin at the spring mini con when the form is handed out. I plan on setting a hard deadline for submission by Jun 1 or so. The results of that will be published in the subsequent edition of the Aerodrome. Once that has happened we should be able to begin posting on the website.
