Shot entirely on location in France, The Search for THE STAND joins the 2007 Frank Luke Discovery Expedition as it leaves Brussels, heads south toward the old Meuse-Argonne theater on the western front, and hikes deep into the forests where clues are unearthed that piece together what truly occurred in Luke's last moments.

The Search for THE STAND contains previously unseen footage inside battlefield ruins, views of the exact location of Luke’s death, unpublished war photographs containing vital evidence of his last mission, meticulous re-enactments of Luke's death scene and much more.

The animated sequences of the documentary were produced in cooperation with the makers of History Channel’s Dogfights series. The Search for THE STAND is scheduled to appear on national television this fall.

The PR campaign for THE STAND picks up pretty soon. Book tour this fall with lots of speaking engagements, new videos going up on the web site every few weeks. MySpace and You Tube pages put up and linked to main site. Ad campaign in several WWI publications. OTF wants to use the painting on the cover of the League journal. Appearances at the USAF academy, Museum of the USAF, and lots more.

The documentary goes into final editing late next week. Working on a TV deal with two networks.

So a lot of stuff is going on now. Pretty exciting.

The newly released military history book titled THE STAND: The Final Flight of Lt. Frank Luke, Jr. (THE STAND: The Final Flight of Lt. Frank Luke, Jr.) re-examines the incredible life and tragic death of World War I flying ace and Medal of Honor recipient Frank Luke of Phoenix, Arizona.

Based on seven archeological expeditions to France and 15 years of worldwide research, THE STAND breaks new ground in every possible way, revealing recently discovered evidence that re-writes the story as it was known for 90 years and solves the last great mystery of World War I.

Accomplished military historian Mike Carr co-edited THE STAND and a new interview has now been released featuring Carr's insight into the writing, research, and the untold story of how THE STAND went from idea to reality. Mike Carr's background in World War I aviation research uniquely qualified him to edit and review THE STAND. Carr is also a long time member of the League of WWI Aviation Historians and founder and sponsor of the League's Mike Carr Student Paper Competition, which encourages students to further research aviation from the WWI period.

OTHER NEWS:

Post production work continues on The Search for THE STAND, the upcoming 60-minute DVD documentary that accompanies the book. All extra feature material for the bonus DVD has been produced and completed, and the documentary itself is nearly finished as well.

THE STAND author Stephen Skinner will begin his 2009 book and speaking tour in May. A major kick off event is being planned in Phoenix, the city of Luke's birth. The book tour will continue throughout the rest of the year with stops in Phoenix, Indianapolis, Dayton, Ajo, Chicago, Colorado Springs, Kingsbury, San Antonio, and more.

The supplemental volume to THE STAND entitled THE QUEST has also been completed. All writing, photographs, editing and final layout work are now finished and THE QUEST goes to the printer next week for immediate publication and distribution.
