While the CW finished me last night, three hits in two turns for a total of 17 damage meant I probably wasn't going to be sticking around much longer anyways. In the typically small VDP games, those 3-5 attacks before the Lewis drum has to be changed make the SE a dominant aircraft, and there's a good chance you can be free of the fight and reloading quickly when the drum is empty.

And here we go again. Read the article awhile ago on the Deadliest fighter and it has nothing to do with this discussion. While the SE5 may not be the deadliest plane alive. It is not inaequate.

Again, I'll state that I really like the SE, the only times I've ever NOT liked being in it were in Oct-Nov 18 games where it's more likely than not going to be way outclassed by big block/HC Fokkers or SSWs.

And here we go again. Read the article awhile ago on the Deadliest fighter and it has nothing to do with this discussion. Actually myself, Kirk and Andy had just discussed the SE's ability to offensively dominate an opponent. So I understand if the article has nothing to do with your comments, but it does pertain to ours. Andy, I agree that the "deadliest fighter" is relative to the date of a given game. However, the overwhelming majority of DP game dates are determined randomly. Additionally, if a change it made to the Lewis gun's shooting abilities, you can rest assured that it won't only apply to selected dates - it will be that way in all games regardless of the date. As a result, month-by-month data and statistics on specific dates are essentially useless for any discussion of the SE's Lewis gun or offensive capabilities. For that reason, statistics on the plane's overall service - inclusive of all dates - is the only way to generate useful data that truly reflects the plane's capabilities and helps us make educated decisions on whether to do things like limit Lewis gun shooting.
