If you enjoyed THE STAND: The Final Flight of Lt. Frank Luke, Jr. or WWI aviation research in general, please consider this question... why should corporations support historical research? What's in it for them? Several companies and organizations made tremendous contributions to the writing of THE STAND, and this involvement represented a major turning point in corporate attitudes. Before THE STAND, how many corporate entities actually devoted significant resources to WWI aviation research?
I am asking you to take a moment to thank these folks. They need to know that they are making a favorable impression with the public and that WWI enthusiasts appreciate their help. A sample letter is below. You can cut and paste it, or better yet, re-write a brief note of your own. Just a sentence or two will suffice. Here is a sample letter:
Also below you'll find the email addresses of key people at Royal Robbins clothing, Eagle Creek luggage, Magellan GPS, Over The Front, and TheAerodrome.com. Again, simply cut and paste these addresses into an email (all are corporate - no personal addresses are listed):
Thank you, and remember... if we don't express support to those who help further WWI aviation research, we can't expect any more companies to be involved. Please send a letter of appreciation to these folks and post on this thread to let us know that you helped! Thank you,
Stephen Skinner

Hello;
I learned of your organization through the new book entitled, "THE STAND: The Final Flight of Lt. Frank Luke, Jr." I understand that your organization was an active supporter of the book's research and the Frank Luke Discovery Expedition.
Thank you for being involved in THE STAND, and thank you for supporting WWI research and overseas expeditions. I prefer to patronize those who support historical research into WWI aviation.
Sincerely,
